We're getting into series (which we're going to be doing for the rest of the semester) and one of the early examples given was Σn and he said that you can't do that, except that in the infinite case, you know it's infinity. I went up to him after class and was like.. "Uhh, Σn = [n(n+1)]/2" and he's like "Oh yeah!" XD Go number theory!
