Guard decision.

A few changed things - like starting a drop spin with the 'and' at 45 degrees instead of flat - and a few new names for old things - like 'hip shoulder' for 'slam' - but not too bad. Band camp would be 10 days of about 12 hours each.

The season's going to be mostly flag, with some rifle. No sabre this year, though people will probably get trained on it a bit.

I've decided that I'm not going to do Guard this year. I'd like time to do homework and sleep. I still don't believe Bobby's "4 hours a day" for extra work, but I also know that I can't slack off in college like I did in high school. If I had band, I wouldn't have the energy to do my work, and I wouldn't. And I can't afford a few Bs.

As it stands, I'll still be taking 20 credits. And I'll have my evenings free for whatever I need to do. I'll also be able to come back to Richmond on weekends when I want, and I guess I'll be going to Otakon. (Will deal with that stuff soon.)

Wish I had decided this sooner, but I didn't really have time - until I got to orientation a week and a half ago, I didn't know I'd have no choice in my scheduling for first semester. If I could have chosen, I probably would have done Guard.

I feel like I'm quitting. =/ I don't like that feeling. But better safe than sorry, I think, in this case. I regret that I won't be getting to know some of the people in the band better - I met a couple people I'd definitely like to have gotten to know better - but alas. Such is life.

Here's what my schedule will look like for first semester:

Mondays
11:00 - 11:50 - CHEM 151
12:00 - 12:50 - APMA 111 (Calc II)
2:00 - 3:15 - CS 101
4:00 - 5:15 - STS 101 (Communications class - pretty much English for E school)

Tuesdays
8:30 - 9:20 - APMA 111
12:30 - 1:45 - ENGR 162 (Engineering Design)
3:30 - 5:30 - ROTC

Wednesdays
8:30 - 9:20 - ENGR 162 Lab
11:00 - 11:50 - CHEM 151
12:00 - 12:50 - APMA 111
2:00 - 3:15 - CS 101
4:00 - 5:15 - STS 101

Thursdays
9:00 - 12:30 - CHEM 151 Lab (every other week)
12:30 - 1:45 - ENGR 162
3:30 - 4:20 - ROTC

Fridays
11:00 - 11:50 - CHEM 151
12:00 - 12:50 - APMA 111
2:00 - 3:30 - CS 101 Lab
4:00 - 5:15 - STS 101

Band would have been 6 - 8 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, and then on Fridays and Saturdays of game weeks as well.

I don't like chemistry. Chem is going to suck. A lot.
