The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby is perhaps the second book assigned for school that I'm actually enjoying reading. The first was The Count of Monte Cristo during sophomore year. Monte Cristo was a very exciting, interesting, intriguing book; Gatsby flows amazingly, taking your eyes from page to page nonstop. You turn a page and find yourself amazed that you've turned 10 others since last you looked at the page numbers.

I enjoyed reading Owen Meany over the summer for Honors English 11 as well, but not quite like these two books. Monte Cristo I would gladly read again. I don't know about Gatsby, as I haven't finished it, but I'm glad that I was assigned it; it was once said that "Classics are the books that everybody wants to have read but nobody wants to read" - Gatsby is one of the classics that one wants to read.

"Everyone suspects himself of at least one of the cardinal virtues, and this is mine: I am one of the few honest people that I have ever known."
